Finally got around to figuring out how to get some of my mixes into your iTunes Podcasts Library automatically. The benefit of this delivery method is that every time I upload a new podcast, iTunes will automatically download it and sync it with your iPod/iPhone upon next sync.
Subscribing to my podcast feed is simple actually. All you need is iTunes running on your computer (I’m sure you can also use other media players, but I haven’t tried yet). You don’t actually need an iPod/iPhone (you can listen to the podcasts on your computer as well). On your iTunes computer, click on my podcast subscription link here. If you’re not on your iTunes computer right now, you can subscribe anytime by clicking on the “Podcast (iTunes)” link on any page of DocDJ.com. (FYI, my podcast was rejected, expectedly, from the iTunes store, so don’t bother using the iTunes search to try and add my podcast. This is the only method that works.)
Your iTunes should start up (if it’s not already open) and you should see the “DocDJ.com Feed + Podcast” downloading the latest mixes. To get the podcasts on your Apple device, be sure to go to the “Podcasts” tab (in iTunes under “Device” when your Apple device is plugged in) and be sure “Sync x most recent…” is checked and the DocDJ.com podcast is checked. You’re all set.
Right now, there’s only 1 mix up (the podcast I attached to the DocDJ.com v2 Launch article), but I’ll be sure to add at least a few a month going forward. I’ll probably add some “chapter” functionality as well when I get around to figuring out how to do that. Enjoy.
